Lent 2026

Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday service, 18th February, 7pm at St Paul’s.

Many of us on the staff team use the Lectio 365 app to pray and read the Bible.  On the app there are prayers for morning, midday and night.  You can read along at your own pace or listen to the audio, which often includes some background music.   

Lectio 365 will be doing daily Lent devotions on their app based on ‘Wisdom from the desert fathers and mothers’:

You are invited to join me and others on a lent journey from Sunday 15th February by using the Lectio 365 app to pray and reflect on the Bible.  App downloadable here: https://lectio365.com/

Some Small Groups will be using the Small Group resources that go alongside the ‘Desert fathers and mothers Lent journey’. 

We will also be using the Lectio 365 Lent resources at the Five every Sunday over Lent. The Lentcourse will include worship and refreshments as part of the regular service. The course begins on the 18th February, 8pm at St Paul’s, after the Ash Wednesday service, then every Sunday at 5pm at St Paul’s.

All are welcome! If you are planning to attend, please contact Winnie, Naomi, or Geraldine, as this will help us with food numbers.

This Lent we are not recommending a particular Lent book but, instead, encourage you to find ways to connect with Jesus each day over Lent in whatever way you find most helpful.    We have resources at the back of each church and on our website https://hernehillparish.org.uk/prayer/ . 

On Sunday 15th February we will be having a Praise & Worship evening at the Five at St Paul’s! 

The Five is hosting it specifically for people from every service, so we can have a lovely evening of worship, prayer ministry and praising God together. Joel Goodyear will be worship leading!  

Come at 5pm for pizza and drinks for 5.15 start!

We’d love one volunteer from each congregation to help with refreshments. If you feel you’d be up for doing that, please tell Naomi or Geraldine, or let me know.
